After a long suspension until March 2026, the Stove Train has finally returned.

With thorough safety measures in place, the beloved winter tradition—the Stove Train—resumes service on December 1, 2026. This winter, a special journey that lets you experience the timeless winter landscapes of Tsugaru begins once again.

Regarding the train separation incident that occurred on December 29, 2025, between Tsugaru-Iizume and Bishamon stations, it was determined that multiple factors contributed to the event, including vertical movement of the cars caused by track conditions, uneven wear of the coupler knuckle, and differences in coupler height.
Following the incident, we carried out preventive measures such as track repairs, inspection and adjustment of couplers, knuckle restoration, and a review of operating procedures, and we have confirmed the safety of our operations.
Tsugaru Railway will continue to strengthen safety measures—such as enhanced monitoring of track conditions, reinforced coupler inspections, and ongoing safety training—to ensure that passengers can travel with peace of mind.
